KUALA LUMPUR, July 17 — Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim arrived home a short while ago after being released on police bail.
He is set to detail his hours in detention when he speaks to the media at 2pm today.
But his lawyer Sivarasa Rasiah was less than impressed that his client had to spend the night on the cement floor, saying that it aggravated his back injury.
Anwar will seek medical attention before holding the press conference. While in custody, he had also refused to give authorities any DNA samples. Sivarasa quoted Anwar as saying: “Why should I give my DNA when the police already have it?”
He questioned the integrity of the DNA tests as “the same people involved in 1998 are still involved now”, referring to the IGP and A-G whom Anwar charges as having fabricated evidence back then.
